Behind the welcoming doors of Tribes Christian Bookstore is a woman whose life serves as a beautiful testament to faith, leadership, and a deep love for her community. Jessica Reid, a long-time resident of Chesapeake for forty years, is the visionary owner and heart behind this sanctuary for spiritual seekers. This coming March of 2026, Jessica will celebrate a truly significant milestone: twenty years of dedicated service in Christian retail. Throughout these two decades, she has been consistently guided by the powerful promise of Isaiah 54:17: “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,” says the Lord. This scripture has been her anchor, providing the strength and confidence needed to build spaces that uplift and inspire everyone who walks through the door.
Jessica’s journey is defined by a relentless pursuit of excellence and higher knowledge. She holds a Master of Law degree in Nonprofit Law from Regent University, an achievement that laid the groundwork for her sophisticated approach to organizational leadership and community service. Currently, she is further expanding her expertise by working toward a doctorate degree in Strategic Leadership from Liberty University. Her commitment to faith-based education reached a new peak in May 2025 when she founded Robinson-Reid Christian University, an institution dedicated to equipping the next generation of believers and leaders with the spiritual tools they need to succeed in their unique callings.
Her work at Tribes is just one facet of her multi-dimensional life. Jessica is a passionate student of scripture and theology, always looking for innovative ways to create Christ-centered resources and systems that simplify and enrich the journey of faith. She has a unique talent for designing peaceful, productive spaces, ensuring that every environment she touches—whether a bookstore or a classroom—is filled with tranquility, beauty, and purpose. Beyond her academic and ministry work, she is the creative force behind her skincare and makeup brand, Corinne Cosmetics, where she blends her eye for design with her heart for empowering beauty.
For Jessica, true stewardship involves the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. She finds deep joy in exploring how the intricate threads of faith, law, and creativity intersect to support a life of intentionality and stewardship. Whether through her bookstore, her university, or her creative projects, Jessica is dedicated to helping her community encounter God and find their own sense of purpose in every aspect of their lives.
